Context
Tech Arena Italy 2024 is a Call for Ideas dedicated to PhDs: current students, fresh-PhDs, and Post Docs, with the goal to demonstrate the value of a doctoral research as an impetus for innovation and a force to shape the future of technology and research in Huawei.
TOPIC 1
Antenna Technology for 5G advanced applications and Joint Communication and Sensing
Innovative design and optimization of electromagnetic metasurfaces and metamaterials, advanced antenna theories for wideband and high-efficiency solutions, integration of new materials to reduce losses, creation of non-conventional arrays and metasurfaces, reconfigurable materials to boost antenna performance, and new antenna technologies enabling joint communication and sensing in 5G scenarios.
TOPIC 2
RF and Photonic technology for the Evolution of  Wireless Base Station 
Development of techniques and RF technologies to reduce power consumption and costs in base stations, integrating photonic beamforming networks and innovative architectures, with advanced microwave photonic systems and highly integrated photonic components for high-performance wireless applications under 100GHz.

Huawei Tech Arena Italy 2024 is the perfect opportunity for young PhDs to learn more about Huawei Research Centers in Italy, join a community of researchers from universities and industry for knowledge sharing and networking, contribute to the cutting-edge technologies and solutions developed at Huawei, and discover job and cooperation opportunities with Huawei.
How to participate
Participants will be able to apply starting from August 1st, either as individual participants or in teams of up to 2 people. Projects must be delivered by October 27th.

Who can participate?
Junior PhD
Students in the 1st or 2nd year of their PhD studies.
Senior PhD
Students from their 3rd year of PhD studies or PhD graduates within 3 years from their PhD graduation.
